June 24 – The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has eased travel restrictions for Iran ahead of their World Cup Group G fixture against Egypt on Friday.

Under the original tournament regulations imposed by US authorities Iran were only permitted to enter the United States 24 hours before kick-off for their opening two matches, forced to base their training camp across the border in Mexico.  Team Melli were also forced to leave US soil immediately after their matches.
