June 24 – A report by human rights NGO Equidem says that labour rights abuses and hazardous working conditions have marred the preparation and delivery of the World Cup. The report details that construction workers at multiple US venues faced systemic exploitation, accountability gaps among subcontractors, and severe health risks leading up to the matches.
