Bournemouth now have a clearer idea of what it will take to sign Lecce defender Tiago Gabriel this summer.
The Cherries were linked with the 21-year-old last month. We covered Sky Italia claims that they repeatedly scouted the Portuguese centre-back since January. Now looks like they are preparing to step up their interest.
But according to Portuguese insider outlet Glorioso 1904, Lecce will only consider selling Tiago Gabriel if a bid in the region of €20m (£17.3m) arrives.
Interest parties now know the price
The report is focused on Benfica, who remain interested in strengthening their defence after Nicolás Otamendi’s departure, with Tomás Araújo still away at the World Cup.
It also states that AC Milan are expected to complete the signing of Mario Gila, reducing the competition for Tiago Gabriel, although Juventus and Bournemouth continue to be credited with interest.
For Bournemouth, this latest update provides an important reference point. As we covered last month, sporting director Tiago Pinto has been driving the club’s interest. Moreover, his Italian market knowledge was essential. Therefore, he managed to identify the defender as a concrete target.
Tiago Gabriel joined Lecce from Estrela da Amadora for around €1.25m (£1.08m) in January 2025 and has enjoyed an impressive first full season in Serie A. He made 39 appearances in all competitions, including 37 league matches, scoring twice as Lecce secured survival.
Lecce have built a reputation for generating significant profits on emerging talent, particularly when Premier League clubs come calling. If Bournemouth decide to formalise their interest, they now know the price needed to test the Italian club’s resolve.
