LaLiga agrees ESPN/Disney+ deal for Nordic markets
July 3 – LaLiga has struck a four-season broadcast rights agreement with Disney that will take Spanish football on to Disney+ across much of the Nordic region.
From the 2026/27 season, ESPN on Disney+ will become the exclusive home of LaLiga in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, showing all 380 league matches each season alongside the Copa del Rey. At the same time, La Liga has extended its existing partnership with TV2 Norway through to 2030.
The agreement adds diversity to Disney’s football offering in Europe while extending an existing relationship with La Liga that is anchored in the United States, where ESPN holds the league’s rights through 2028/29, and forms part of its distribution model in the UK and Ireland, but only for the big games.
The Nordic market is an important battleground for La Liga, and securing a home on Disney+ gives the league access to a major and widely accessible streaming platform as it looks to grow its audience across the region.
La Liga president Javier Tebas said: “We are very pleased to strengthen La Liga’s position across the Nordic region through these agreements with Disney+ and TV2. Bringing La Liga to ESPN on Disney+ in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland is an important step forward for our growth in Northern Europe and allows us to connect with new audiences through one of the world’s leading content platforms. It is also a natural extension of the strong relationship that La Liga already has with Disney and ESPN in other key international markets.
“Renewing with TV2 in Norway is equally important, as it reflects the value of continuity in a market where we have built a strong relationship with fans together with a trusted local broadcaster. Together, these agreements give La Liga a strong platform for long-term growth across the region.”
