AIK Fotboll are keen on signing Arsenal’s Charles Sagoe Jr and have already held talks for a summer deal.
The winger graduated from Arsenal’s academy and made only one appearance for the first team. Mikel Arteta started him in the EFL Cup win over Brentford in September 2023.
He went out on loan to Swansea City and Shrewsbury Town before securing another loan move to Sweden in February, joining Kalmar FF. Their sporting director, Mats Winblad, was thrilled to have signed the youngster.
Shortly after the move, the 21-year-old said he had to leave the Premier League winners to continue his development.
Arsenal attacker attracting interest
Operating as a left winger and a striker, he managed two goals and seven assists from 14 matches this year.
Charles Sagoe Jr’s impressive performances for the Swedish club didn’t go unnoticed, especially in the Allsvenskan. He could change clubs soon, even though his loan deal with Kalmar FF runs until December.
That’s according to Expressen, who state AIK Fotboll want to sign the Englishman this summer.
AIK’s plan for Arsenal youngster
AIK Fotboll are ninth in the table with 18 points, five points ahead of 12th placed Kalmar FF.
The former are now focusing on Charles Sagoe Jr, and this is a ‘transfer bombshell’ in Sweden. They are working hard on completing this operation and are in contact with the parties involved.
It’s not clear whether AIK contacted their Swedish rivals, Arsenal or his agent.
AIK can only sign the Gunners man by cutting short his loan stay at Kalmar FF and the outlet claims it is ‘not impossible’ to break the agreement.
Expressen are only focusing on their interest in Sagoe Jr, and don’t mention if the player, Arsenal or Kalmar are in favour of terminating his current loan.
