Nottingham Forest‘s Arnaud Kalimuendo still remains hopeful of returning to Eintracht Frankfurt, after a loan spell with the German club.
The striker joined the Reds from Stade Rennais last summer and struggled in England. He joined the Bundesliga side on loan in January, managing six goals and an assist from 19 league matches.
This was enough for Eintracht Frankfurt to consider buying him from Nottingham Forest.
On June 8th, we relayed news of the two clubs holding talks for his permanent transfer. The purchase option was at €27m while Eintracht Frankfurt couldn’t offer over €20m.
Concern over Nottingham Forest comments
The Premier League side appointed Oliver Glasner as their new manager in June.
The German media were concerned about the Austrian blocking the player’s exit. The fear seems genuine and Bild cover the latest.
Arnaud Kalimuendo has returned to Nottingham Forest and scored in their 2-0 friendly win over Notts County at the weekend.
Prior to the match, Oliver Glasner said every player will get a chance to prove themselves. The coach also praised the Frenchman after the friendly.
“He played a fantastic game today, not just because of the goal. He found himself in some very good positions between the lines,” he said.
Deal for Nottingham Forest player on hold
Bild report Eintracht Frankfurt are not happy to hear this praise and would prefer Oliver Glasner leaves him out of his plans next season.
The German club have a desire to buy Arnaud Kalimuendo and he’s still keen on joining them permanently. In fact, the two parties have already agreed for a contract until 2031.
However, the Bundesliga side have put the negotiations on hold because they have to first sell Elye Wahi [for around €20m] and Noel Futkeu [for €10m] before advancing for the Nottingham Forest man.
