Yunus Musah had a frustrating spell at Atalanta but has attracted interest from Leeds United and Ipswich Town.
AC Milan would have expected a different outcome when they loaned the American to the Bergamo club last year. Things didn’t go to plan, as he played only 19 times in Serie A and Atalanta decided against signing him permanently.
Milan have a problem on their hands now. They do not see the midfielder as part of their project under Ruben Amorim and want to execute a sale.

Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports developments around the 23-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Lazio.
The Rome side see him as an important target and have made a formal move. They have offered an initial loan with an option to buy at €18m but the deal hasn’t closed yet.

Their failure to offer a permanent deal is a problem for Milan. They don’t want to get burned like they were last season and would rather part ways immediately. As a result, a move to England could gain traction, with the Whites making initial contact already covered by Sport Witness.
Our take: Deal should be straightforward
Yunus Musah is very versatile as a player. He can play deep in midfield, in advanced areas and even out wide. He showed that in the 2024/25 campaign for Milan. Even if things didn’t go to plan at Atalanta, he will offer value to both Leeds United and Ipswich Town and be a reliable squad player.
A €20m price tag has previously been reported and that will hand Milan a capital gain. Such an amount shouldn’t be a problem for either of the two clubs and a deal should be fairly straightforward.
The player has previously played for Arsenal’s youth sides and wouldn’t reject a return to England.
