Bournemouth have emerged as the latest Premier League club to show interest in Boca Juniors midfielder Milton Delgado. The Argentine youngster continues to attract attention from England.
Chelsea have previously been linked with the 21-year-old. However, journalist Pablo Oliveira now reports the Cherries are also keeping a close eye on the Boca academy graduate.
According to the claim, Bournemouth have shown interest in Delgado and could consider making a move in the next transfer window. So this could be a deal for January, when the Argentine season is already over.
There is no indication of formal talks or an offer at this stage, but it is another sign that the midfielder is building a growing reputation outside Argentina.
Why Bournemouth are looking
Milton Delgado is not the type of midfielder who grabs headlines with goals or assists. Instead, his reputation has been built on his defensive work, tactical discipline and relentless energy.
Nicknamed “Pulmoncito” (“Little Lung”) because of his relentless work rate, the Boca youngster provides balance in midfield through his reading of the game, aggressive ball-winning and willingness to do the hard work for his teammates.
Despite standing at just 1.66m, Delgado is an excellent ball winner thanks to his agility and anticipation. In addition, he offers composure in possession. He regularly plays progressive passes after regaining the ball rather than simply recycling possession.
Growing reputation
Milton Delgado’s stock rose significantly after the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. At that tournament, he helped Argentina reach the final and received the Bronze Ball as one of the tournament’s standout performers.
He has since established himself as part of Boca Juniors’ senior squad and signed a new contract running until December 2029. That’s how highly the Argentine club rate him.
Chelsea’s interest showed Premier League clubs were already aware of his potential. West Ham and Brighton were also linked even before. But Bournemouth’s emergence now suggests the competition for his signature could grow. This could happen if he continues his development over the coming months.
For now, the Cherries appear to be in the monitoring stage, but another English club entering the picture is unlikely to go unnoticed by Boca as they look to keep hold of one of the brightest products from their academy.
