Swansea City have received a fresh boost to sign Royal Charleroi’s Yacine Titraoui, after the latest developments.

The Algeria international has attracted interest from several clubs, including Swansea City.

Last month, Sport Witness covered claims from Algeria of Sunderland and Hull City as his suitors. At that time, a source close to the player revealed his wish is to play in the UK.

Since then, the Premier League duo didn’t make firm advances while Swansea City have entered the race.

Olympiacos overtook Swansea City

Late on Tuesday, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report Olympiacos’ €8m bid.

The Greek club can offer the midfielder an opportunity to play in the Champions League next season and a future path to Nottingham Forest. The two clubs share the same owner, Evangelos Marinakis.

Olympiacos are also willing to make Yacine Titraoui one of the top earners at the club.

Swansea City have been in the race, but the journalist said it’s difficult to see the player joining the Championship side.

New development favour Swansea City

Vítor Matos’ side have now received a massive boost to sign the 23-year-old. In another post on X, Sacha Tavolieri claims the player held talks this morning.

He doesn’t share the details of the conversation but claims Yacine Titraoui has rejected the Greek club. Their project hasn’t convinced the player.

Tavolieri adds Swansea City are ‘still in the running’ to sign him. However, the Welsh club have a lot of work to do to convince him join them.

Key transfer points

  • Titraoui’s wish is play in the UK
  • Hull City and Sunderland didn’t make advances after interest
  • Olympiacos reached agreement with Charleroi, but he rejected them
  • Swansea City still in the race, must convince player
