Roma have made enquiries about Aston Villa forward Evan Guessand as they continue to seek a new forward for Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad.
Siamo La Roma report information from TeleRadioStereo today. They state that the Aston Villa forward is on Roma’s list of options this summer.
Aston Villa man on list
The radio station reports that Roma have made inquiries about Evan Guessand as they continue to seek a forward addition. The Italian side have been frustrated in their efforts in that department so far, with several signings electing to go elsewhere.
Indeed, one of those was Alejandro Garnacho, who joined Aston Villa from Chelsea when a deal with Roma appeared close.
Thus, the search for a wide forward continues. And among the players that Sport Director Tony D’Amico has inquired about is Guessand.
The Ivorian forward is currently on the fringes at Villa Park. He had been playing for Crystal Palace since January, winning the Conference League, before returning to Birmingham after the World Cup.
Versatility appreciated
The Eagles decided not to make his move permanent, though. And he does not currently fit into the plans of Unai Emery, who has recently welcomed Garnacho to his squad.
According to the website, Roma ‘likes the look of Guessand’. His ability to play across the entire front line would make him a profile that appeals to Gasperini. Guessand player as both an alternative to Jean-Philippe Mateta and out wide at Palace.
So far, though, Roma have limited themselves to gathering information on the forward. The Giallorossi have other priorities at the moment. They are focusing on the likes of Abde Ezzalzouli and Antonio Nusa. Both are considered difficult to get done, with the latter Gasperini’s preferred choice.
But perhaps if those deals can’t be done, Guessand would be an option. He’s on the list and someone Roma are considering.
