Aston Villa’s hopes of signing Endrick have been played down in Brazil, with people close to the forward indicating he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid.

Villa were named by AS over the weekend as one of the clubs to have approached the 20-year-old. The Spanish newspaper said he was considering another loan and listening to offers.

ESPN Brazil now bring a very different picture from Endrick’s camp. Their information is that the Brazilian “really wants to stay” at Real Madrid. José Mourinho and club president Florentino Pérez also want to keep him.

Speaking live, one of the reporters explained they had spoken to a person close to the player and were still waiting for the Madrid side of the story.

What they heard from Endrick’s camp was pretty clear: “Endrick really wants to stay, and Mourinho and the president want him to stay too.”

No desire to leave for Aston Villa

ESPN then added another piece of information which makes an Aston Villa move look difficult at this stage. Endrick has “absolutely no intention” of leaving Real Madrid, according to their own checks.

The Spanish club are also said to be counting on him for the rest of the season. And that is quite a shift from the picture presented in Spain. AS had Aston Villa and Roma among the clubs at his door, with another loan presented as a serious possibility.

Interest from elsewhere is acknowledged in Brazil. For now, though, it doesn’t appear to be changing Endrick’s plans.

“Despite interest from big clubs elsewhere in Europe, Real Madrid want him to stay and he wants to stay,” ESPN journalists explained.

There are personal reasons which could also make staying in Madrid attractive.

Endrick’s wife is pregnant and their baby is due in October. The source close to him still accepted that things can change quickly in football. Their expectation, however, is that he remains at Madrid.

Number nine shirt seen as another sign

There was another little detail highlighted by ESPN Brazil. Real Madrid have confirmed their squad numbers for the new season and Endrick has kept the number nine shirt.

They believe keeping such an important number shows the faith Madrid continue to place in Endrick, despite all the talk about another loan.

For Aston Villa, that leaves the situation looking rather different just a day after their interest was reported.

The door to another loan had appeared to be opening. Information coming directly from Endrick’s side suggests he would much prefer to keep it shut.
